KALMATRON® KF-aßy

USA Patent Pending

DESCRIPTION OF KF-aßy

  • This non-organic compound with oscillator's structure acts as a coating and admixture for structures containing cement and reduces semi-penetration of radiation and decreases self-heating.

  • Gray powder with heavy filler and dry density of 2,000 kg/m³.

  • After mixing with water, it becomes a plastic-like dough with a wet density of 3,000 kg/m³.

  • Any paint may be applied on the surface of the KF-aßy layer.

  • Six hours after application, the surface becomes waterproofed.  Radioactivity protection is immediate after application.

  • The period of durability of the KF-aßy layer depends upon the source of energy and suitability with the thickness and weight of the protected structure.  The layer thickness and durability are hyperbolically related.  For instance, a 6mm layer under 50 KeV of y-radiation has a calculated warranty of up to 75 years.

  • Various compositions of KF-aßy and technologies of application for different levels of durability, based on the client's specifications, are possible.

BENEFITS

·         KF-abg utilizes the principal of reflection, and does not absorb radiation.

·         KF-abg is a safe alternative to the current technology used to contain radioactive wastes, and will never become a secondary source of radiation.

·         KF-abg has the same sanitary value as any cementitious product.

·         KF-abg has the highest applicability including: stucco application on vertical and horizontal surfaces; powder application on contaminated surfaces; or as an admixture to concrete.

·         Areas of utilization include nuclear plants; storage sites; isolation of civil buildings, roads, tunnels bridges, sinkholes, pipes, tubes, etc.; and deactivation of dust.

·         KF-abg is applicable on wet, contaminated, and deteriorated surfaces; in both solid and powder conditions.

·         KF-abg is very cost effective because a standard stucco application technology can be used, and thus no additional training of the staff is needed.

·         KF-abg is an effective, non-poisonous, reduced cost solution to containment of radioactive materials.

USES OF KF-aßy

Various applications include coating, admixture and injections of concrete, masonry and reinforced concrete of atomic plants, storage of nuclear wastes, deactivation by isolating civil buildings, roads, tunnels, bridges and injections into mines, sinkholes, metal or concrete tubes, etc.

PREPARATION OF KF-aßy

  • Use the chosen amount of KF-aßy per square unit of concrete surface.

  • Add 0.75 to 1.5 parts water to 3 to 4 parts KF-aßy  and mix no less than 3 minutes.

  • Soak the surfaces of concrete structures, masonry and stucco-coated walls with water.  For wood, plastic or metal structures, use flat wire net before applying KF-aßy .

  • Six hours after application, spray water on the surface to lightly wet it.

TECHNICAL DATA OF CONCRETE WITH KF-aßy

COMMENTS

  • Before any operation in a new marketplace, it is necessary to set up the amount of KF-aßy coating based on the source of radiation, thickness, age of structure, and required level of durability.

  • Use standard methods and equipment for evaluation of the remainder of radiation, depth of semi-penetration, and superficial temperature.  Repeat quality control every five years at the same time with comparable outside conditions.
