KALMATRON® KF-SEA

USA Patent Pending

¢ INTRODUCTION

·       KALMATRONŅ KF-SEA is an admixture to the regular concrete mixes containing unwashed sea-sand and sea-gravel where the hydration of cement may be mixed with sea-water as well.

·       Gray powder with specific smell.  After application, the smell disappears.

·       This non-organic cementitious compound discharges the electrochemical potential of most sea-salts that are aggressive to concrete.

¢ RECOGNITION OF KALMATRON® KF-SEA

·       KALMATRONŅ KF-SEA provides the best concrete quality by being in the same environment where raw materials are taken from.

·       Before any operation in a new market place, it is necessary to determine which of the dosages, from 13 Kg/m3 or 16 kg/m3, or 19 kg/m3, is the best in comparative compressive strength testimony.

¢ USES OF KALMATRON® KF-SEA

 ·       Used for enhancing of concrete, and reinforced concrete in centrally loaded foundations, pillars, walls, columns, etc., except for bending elements with thicknesses less than 450 mm.

·       Facilities for Industrial and Military hazardous wastes, dams, tunnels, heavy traffic roads, ramps, seaports, airports, etc.

¢ BENEFITS FOR CONCRETE STRUCTURES

·       Used with natural and unwashed sea-fillers for higher durability than any known HP concrete mixes.

·       Absolute resistance to salt corrosion of concrete structures, as well as preventing the rusting of the metal-anchors and rebar.

·       Highest liquid impermeability, resistance to vapor transmission, and advanced as a radiation shielding  material.

·     Reduces exothermic heat up to two times.

·       Highly resistant to chemical corrosions and increases Freeze/Thaw cycles.

·     Stable resistance to the core efflorescence.

·     Mortars with KF-SEA are very adhesive to concrete and granite.

¢ BENEFITS FOR CONCRETE APPLICATION

·       Workable with reduced Water-Cement ratio by 10 to 20%.

·       Increases compressive strength by 35% and more.

·       Increases Density, Reduces Shrinkage & Accelerates Early Strength.

·     Increases Yield of the ready mix concrete by 8%.

¢ ECONOMICAL ADVANTAGES

·       Absolute independence from suppliers of the sand, gravel and water.  Take these materials directly from the sea-shore.

·      No other chemicals applied with KF-SEA.

·       Cost of ready mix concrete with KF-SEA drops by 40% in comparison with salt resistant HP concrete and by 25% with the conventional one.

¢ THE ESSENTIALS OF KALMATRON® KF-SEA

·       Appearance of concrete/mortar structures with KF-SEA is different from the known.  Compaction with density at 2,500 kg/m3 to 3,000 kg/m3 is visually close to being determined as an artificial rock.

·      Dark or black-gray color of concrete structure is an indication of complete mineralogical oxidation, or so-called Ironing of Concrete.

¢ APPLICATION AND CURING

  • Use the chosen amount of KF-SEA per 1m³ of concrete mix with sea-fillers.

  • Use the standard amounts of water for concrete mixes.  Mix no less than 10 minutes.

  • Provides curing of concrete with admixture KF-SEA using standard technology.

¢ COMMENTS

  • Before any operation in a new marketplace, it is necessary to determine the amount of admixture KF-SEA used with the local unwashed sea-sand and sea-gravel through comparative test results.  Usually, this is a test of compressive strength.

  • Prepare one control concrete mix.

  • Prepare three concrete mixes with unwashed sea-fillers and add KF-SEA at 13 kg/m³; 16 kg/m³; and 19 kg/m³.

  • The test procedure for compressive strength must be under local, standard regulations.

  • Preferable time for testing, comparison of the test results, and selection of the consumption of KF-SEA is 45 days.

  • For the results shown in the "Technical Data of Concrete" on the next page, the standard formula for concrete mix was used.  However, instead of the usual fillers, sea-sand and sea-gravel were used without washing and drying.

  • The test results were provided with sea-fillers from Sea Okhotsk, Japanese Sea, Bering Sea, Laptev Sea and the Northern Beach of the Pacific Ocean.
